Lou Carcasole is passionate about
human development and curious about change. He has always wanted to know why
change is so difficult; not only changes that are imposed on us, such as loss of
a job or death of a loved one, but also those we try to effect in ourselves and
our surroundings.
As a young man, Lou studied
engineering and worked in the field, helping to plan the amusement park,
Canada’s Wonderland. After obtaining his MBA, he worked as an advisor to the
CEO of the Ontario Development Corporation, where he helped improve
management/union relations and create a new structure for the organization.
While working in an HR capacity at the ODC, Lou’s fascination with the human
side of organizations led to study for his Masters of Adult Education.
Lou’s work as a change
consultant in organizations led to the conclusion that even cutting edge change
methodologies have disappointing long-term results. “There will always be new
trends in organizational development,” says Lou. “But I have found that the
key component to organizational effectiveness is individual change at a deep
level. From my experience the best way to achieve this long-term change is the
ancient practice of Mindfulness. Individuals possess tremendous potential, which
can be realized for the betterment of all. Anyone can learn the powerful
practice of Mindfulness. Anyone can
reap the benefits which last a lifetime.”
Lou has been practicing
Mindfulness since 1987. In addition to his own direct experience and subsequent
first hand understanding, Lou’s style of teaching has been influenced by great
teachers as Shinzen Young, S.N. Goenka, Jack Kornfield, and MBSR pioneer, Dr.
Jon Kabat-Zinn (author of Full Catastrophe Living, and Wherever You Go There You
Are) with whom he completed a Training for Professionals program in 1999.
Lou is an excellent teacher who
is able to talk about Mindfulness in clear, simple, down to earth ways that
anyone can understand and appreciate. He
has taught Mindfulness to well over one thousand people with powerful results,
as demonstrated by the data he collects.
